Dear 2012 Texas Word Wranglers
All of the Texas Word Wrangler Festival Committee members thank you wholeheartedly for taking time to visit our Festival as participants. We enjoyed meeting each of you who were “first time attendees.” We were so happy to see those “return” Word Wranglers. Each one of you has earned the title of “Veteran Texas Word Wrangler”!!! Thank you for making 2012 Texas Word Wrangler Festival, again… the BEST EVER!!! We are so glad you were here to help us Celebrate Texas Authors
The feedback from the school visits made by those of you who visited schools is great!! The kids loved hearing you. Thank you for taking that time. The Giddings ISD Board of Directors will hear from me at their next meeting (Thursday September 20th … tomorrow night) to thank them for the cooperation they gave the Festival again this year.
We have heard from a number of you and we love hearing what you have to say. Thank you for your very kind and wonderful words. We have also had very constructive feedback for some of you… we thank you for that also. We can’t build if we don’t know what to fix.
In late December of this year or early January of next year you will be hearing from me about the 2013 TWWF. If there is a better email for you than the one I am using here, please get it to me. I will correct my list. If you do not hear from me by the end of January and you want to return, please contact me. If I do not hear from you, I can only assume that you do are not interested in coming back at this particular time. Sadly, just because you have been here before does not guarantee you a table for the next time. Please do not plan on coming until you have heard “officially” from the Author Selection Committee Chairman, who at this time is Minnie or the Giddings Public Library.
If there is an author whom you think would like to come to our Festival, please give them our website http://www.texaswordwrangler.com which has a “Contact Us”. It will be forwarded to me or send me their name, website (if they have one) and email. We had 32 authors signed up this year although some had to withdraw for one reason or another. Twenty-five participated. Twenty-five is also the number that we can best handle inside the library. We will stick to “first come, first accepted.” If we run out of space, it would break our hearts to have to turn you down.
We are having our "wrap up" meeting on September 24th. After that we will be meeting monthly until August of 2013. Throughout August and up to the Festival in September, we will be meeting weekly. The 2013 Texas Word Wrangler Festival is Friday September 13, 2013.
On September 24th, we will look at our successes--- such as the fact that we had an especially diverse group of authors, a large group of authors. And good authors!! There was a lot of camaraderie among you as a group. We love seeing to see that! The school visits went very well as did the visits to TWWF from the three schools which sent busses….. AND more than 620 people came into the library that day.
Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative again sponsored the “Hometown Heroes” luncheon which included the authors and the TWWF committee and library staff was a huge success!! Those of our “Hometown Heroes” are still telling us how much they enjoyed meeting you.
We are very pleased with this year’s Festival. As always, we will look at things that we could have done better. The turnout was better than last year. We welcome any suggestions that you might have to make our event more successful. We also welcome constructive criticism.
In the true meaning of the Giddings Area Chamber of Commerce motto
"Come as our Guest, Leave as our Friend"
each of us feels that you came as our guest and left as our friend.
Again, we thank each of you for coming because without you, we would not have had such a wonderful Festival!
