I got back Friday night from a wonderful time at
the Texas Word Wrangler Festival. The town of Giddings, TX were very gracious
hosts! The town welcomed us with open arms. I had a great time presenting to
children at Giddings Elementary Thursday and handed out flyers, 150 book
markers, and coloring contest pages. On Friday, I handed out more than
300 book markers, 400 business cards and all 200 coloring contest pages to
children that were bussed in from private schools in the area. I was excited to
be asked again to do a mini-presentation to some of the private school children
on Friday at the library. I sold over 20 books and had a great time answering
children's interviewed questions and autographing book markers. Met many great
authors and people at the festival.
I think the only thing I would change is have it
on Friday and Saturday. I had some frantic parents that came around 5:00 pm on
Friday to purchase autographed books while I was taking my table down. They
apologized for being so late but they could not get off work any earlier.
Oh and I can't forget the great time that I had at the Thursday Gala Dinner, a great deal of the townspeople were involved setting it up and recognized that night.
I am looking forward to coming back next year
with my new book and I will be more prepared for the children that visited the
library on Friday.
